Positive Reinforcement Training for Horses

Based on learning science (the way humans and animals learn), the same principles of positive reinforcement training apply to horses as they do to dogs, other animals and humans.

Fear responses, aggression, spookiness, getting a horse used to the saddle, teaching new behaviors or modifying/eliminating unwanted behaviors, to name a few, are all addressed by using the gentle and efficient methods of positive reinforcement, establishing trust as the foundation of teaching all further skills and behavior modifications.

The goal here is the same as in the realm of dog training:
To achieve joyful and voluntary cooperation in our work with horses, instead of compliance out of fear-based avoidance of punishment, should they make mistakes or otherwise not comply.
