To this end Sabine uses positive reinforcement training and behavior modification techniques based on proven scientific principles and research.

These techniques achieve lasting results and strengthen the bond between dogs and their humans. The following approaches and tools are never used in Sabine’s training:

Shock, pain, intimidation, physical force, physical molding into position, leash jerks, alpha rolls, choke chains, prong collars, shock collars etc. None of those are necessary in any way to train your best friend successfully.

At FunDogs, our goal is to teach owners how to achieve joyful, voluntary compliance and to bring out the best qualities in your dog. This is possible only when our dogs fully trust us, when gentle guidance turns mistakes into successes.

Positive, reward-based training, with its basis in learning science and psychology, is fun for both dog and owner. Through clear and effective communication it enables us to teach our dogs anything they are physically capable of, from basic good manners to complicated behavior chains.

This applies equally to house-training your exuberant puppy as it does to teaching impulse control, good manners and calm behavior to dogs that may have years of “out-of-control” behavior under their belt.

It is also key to resolving any behavioral issues, including reactivity in any form and shape. Sabine specializes in the remediation of all forms of aggression, fear, shyness and frustration.

Sabine Almstrom CPDT-KA is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge-Assessed (certification through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, CCPDT). She is a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers (CAPPDT).

Sabine’s goal is to foster better communication between humans and their dogs in all their interactions. Understanding the needs and body language of our canine companions is a crucial skill for building trust-based bonding. Strong bonds are the basis for focused attention, voluntary compliance, obedience and greater reliability in our canine friends. When clear communication skills and empathy combine with the ability to read our dogs, we can truly marvel at the potential they’ll reveal to us.

Sabine is a firm believer in the power of positive reinforcement training which she puts it into action in every aspect of her daily dealings with dogs, from rambunctious young puppies to dogs with serious behavioral issues. A strong opponent of all aversive, pain-inducing, intimidating and otherwise dominance-based methods, her guiding motto is:

If you don’t want it done to yourself, don’t do it to your animals.
